SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Individual wins from
Jake Leichner and
Brady Torborg highlighted the opening day of the Coyote Invitational swimming and diving meet Friday at Midco Aquatic Center.
The Coyote men also won a pair of relays, part of four total wins on the opening day of the final regular season meet of the season.
Leichner, a junior, swam 4:53.85 to win the 500 free while Torborg, a junior, touched first in the 50 free in 21.36, narrowly edging
Charlie Bean who swam 21.37.
Bean and Torborg joined
Mack Sathre and
Wyatt Thompson on a victorious 400 medley relay unit that touched first in 3:32.66.
Sathre and Torborg were part of the foursome, including
Zachary Kopp and
Henry Simpson, that raced to first in the 200 free relay in 1:25.11.
Runner-up performances on the opening day came from
Taylor Rau in the 50 free (24.22) and
Carter Anderson in the 500 free (4:54.16).
The foursome of Bean, Thompson,
Jacob Won and
Aidan Gantenbein were second in the 200 free relay in 1:25.53.
The quartet of
Grace Johnson,
Lauren Van Fleet,
Maddie Gallagher and
Madilyn Sindelar were third in the 200 free relay in 1:39.79. Simpson,
Caden DeLay,
Stephen Johnson and
Griffin Wolner placed third in the 400 medley relay in 3:39.96.
Jacob Won touched third in the 100 butterfly in 51.90.
Saturday's final day includes three different sessions with swimming finals taking place at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and the diving finals at 1 p.m.
