MANHATTAN, Kan. – The South Dakota men's golf team wrapped up its first two rounds of competition of the 2021 fall season Monday afternoon at the Wildcat Invitational. Senior
Ben Hicks leads the Yotes after two rounds with a score of 151.
TEE OFF
- Hicks fired off a two-under back nine that included four birdies to record a one over-par first round. In the second round Hicks recorded two birdies and 10 pars to sit tied for 23rd after a round two score of 78.
- In his Coyote debut freshman Max Schmidtke recorded a first round score of 77 and a second round score of 75 to total 152 after day one. Schmidtke sits tied for 30th at 8-over par. He recorded five birdies in the first two rounds of action.
- Senior Ian Johnston sits tied for 49th headed into the final day of action in Kansas. He recorded a 75 and 81 to total 156 after two rounds of action.
- The second Coyote to make his Coyote debut Hunter Rebrovich is tied for 65th after two rounds of action. He recorded rounds of 82 and 81 to total 163.
- Ryan Neff recorded four birdies on day one to sit tied for 65th as well. He shot a first round score of 78 and a second round score of 85 to total 163. He is 19 over-par heading into the final day.
- The third Coyote to make his Coyote debut is Logan Hamak who sits in 75th place after rounds of 88 and 87.
Inside the Scorecard
- The Yotes recorded 20 birdies in the two rounds and 89 pars. USD recorded two eagles on the day as well.
- On Par 3s the Yotes averaged a score of 3.40 while Johnston recorded an average score of 3.13 on Par 3s. He also ranked in the top 10 of the leaderboard with 22 pars in the first two rounds.
- Hicks shot an average of 4.0 on Par 4s on the afternoon.
Day 2 Preview
The Yotes will tee off with a 8:30 am shotgun start tomorrow morning to try to beat the potential weather in the afternoon.
