The South Dakota Coyotes (5-6) hit the road for the first time in Summit League play with a trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma to face Oral Roberts (8-3) on Thursday for a 4 p.m. first serve.
THE COYOTES
South Dakota comes in at 2-0 in Summit League play after a Tuesday sweep over North Dakota State. In that match, junior
Elizabeth Juhnke became the 11th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills. Juhnke finished the contest with 13 kills and a .440 hitting percentage. The Coyotes offense sports a .426 team hitting percentage in Summit League play after posting back-to-back season highs against South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
Maddie Wiedenfeld has a league-best .630 hitting percentage with 18 kills and only one error in two league matches.
Madison Harms is hitting .588,
Aimee Adams .469 and Juhnke .412 in league play.
Madison Jurgens is averaging 12.86 assists per set in league play as the Coyotes have posted 15.71 kills per set in seven league sets. Defensively, South Dakota is averaging 14.57 digs per set in league play behind
Lolo Weideman (5.29) and Juhnke (3.86).
ORAL ROBERTS
Oral Roberts, fresh off a pair of road sweeps over North Dakota and North Dakota State to begin Summit League play, will be playing its home opener. It was the programs first-ever sweep of the North Dakota road swing. The Golden Eagles, who rank second in Summit League play with a .241 overall hitting percentage, has a balanced offensive attack with five players recording 60 or more kills. The leaders are Kaia Dunford (2.81), Trinity Freeman (2.69) and Sakira LaCour (2.48). The offensive attack is quarterbacked by Bryanne Soares, who is averaging 11.67 assists per set in league play, and 8.92 assists per set overall. Libero Sarah Thiessen, who recorded her 1,000th career dig earlier this season, averages 4.63 digs per set in all matches. Freeman (12), LaCour (11) and Jaxie Wakley (10) all reached double figures in kills in the win over North Dakota. Aixa Vigil had 10 kills against North Dakota State.
THE SERIES
The Division I era series history dates back to 2011 as South Dakota holds a 13-4 advantage. The Coyotes have won six in a row in the series.
