Coyotes open 2022 at St. Thomas

South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving teams kick off the 2022 portion of its schedule with a Summit League dual at St. Thomas on Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday ( 10 a.m.)

TEAMS
South Dakota men enter the meet with a 3-4 dual mark on the season while the St. Thomas men are 1-8.
The Coyote women own a 10-4 dual mark this season while St. Thomas is 4-9.
South Dakota swept all four duals with St. Thomas during the Coyote Extravaganza in November.

SCHEDULE
Friday's schedule calls for eight individual events, three relays and both diving board competitions.
Saturday's schedule calls for 12 individual events, two relays and both diving board competitions.
Both days will be scored as separate duals. 

LAST TIME
The Coyotes have not competed since taking part in the three-day Augustana Invitational (Nov. 18-20).
Stella Fairbanks, a sophomore, was named Summit League Women's Diver of the Week following the meet as she won both events, the one-meter and three-meter. She set a NCAA Zone Qualifying mark in the three-meter event (285.95) in the meet.
Adam Fisher, a freshman, was named Summit League Men's Swimmer of the Week following a meet that saw him contribute to four victories, two individual and two relays. He posted seven top seven finishes over the course of the three-day meet. 
South Dakota set two individual and two relay school records during the meet.
Madilyn Sindelar, a senior, established a new school mark in the 100 butterfly of 55.43 while Cassie Ketterling moved to No. 2 all-time at 56.04 and Sara Mayer to third all-time at 56.09.
Emily Kahn, a freshman, eclipsed the 100 freestyle school record with her time of 50.50.
Kahn also swam the leadoff leg of the 400 free relay that set the school record in 3:26.84. Kahn was joined by Emily Johnson, Shannon Banark and Christina Spomer.
The Coyote men set a new school mark in the 400 medley relay as the quartet of Fisher, Jack Berdahl, Jacob Won and Zachary Kopp swam 3:18.69.
The three-day meet saw 27 new entries into the Coyote Top 10 charts.

UP NEXT
South Dakota will host Omaha on Friday and South Dakota State Saturday inside the DakotaDome Pool.
