South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving teams will close out the regular season portion of its 2021-22 schedule by hosting the two-day Coyote Invite inside the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls.
TEAMS
South Dakota is the host while other teams scheduled to compete are South Dakota State, Omaha, Sioux Falls, Northern Iowa, Iowa Central CC and Iowa Lakes CC.
SCHEDULE
This meet has four different sessions with session one scheduled for Friday evening (four individual events, two relays) at 6 p.m.Â
Saturday's sessions are split with swimming at 10 a.m. (four individual events, one relay), diving at 1 p.m. (both 1M and 3M) and the final swimming portion at 4 p.m. (six individual events, one relay)
LAST TIME
South Dakota closed the dual portion of its schedule by sweeping Summit League duals over Omaha and South Dakota.
The Coyote men closed out 7-4 dual record with the two wins while the Coyote women finished with a 14-4 mark, the most dual wins in the Division I era.
Two new school and DakotaDome pool records were established during the dual with Omaha while five school records and three pool standards were set during the South Dakota State dual.
Emily Kahn, a freshman, set a new meters mark with a 26.41 in the 50 free, part of five individual wins over the two days. She was named Summit League Women's Swimmer of the Week after posting individual wins in the 100 free (58.46) and the aforementioned 50 free against Omaha while she won the 50 free, 100 fly and 200 free against South Dakota State.
Mairead Powers, a freshman, set a school record in the 200 back (2:18.90) against South Dakota State while she also won the 400 free (4:40.32).Â
Charlie Bean, a senior, contributed five victories and a runner-up over the two days to earn Summit League Men's Swimmer of the Week honors. Bean set a school and pool record in the 100 free (51.46) against South Dakota State while also wining the 200 free (1:56.38) and contributing a leg on the school and pool record 200 free relay unit (1:33.62).Â
Zachary Kopp, a junior, established a new school and pool record in the 50 free (23.23) against South Dakota State while joining Bean,
Aidan Gantenbein and
Brady Torborg on the 200 free relay.Â
Keegan Henning, a sophomore, set a school record in the 800 free in 8:40.24.
The final school and pool record of the weekend came from the 200 medley relay (1:43.64) quartet of
Adam Fisher,
Parker Sonnabend, Gantenbein and Kopp.Â
Stella Fairbanks, a sophomore, won all four diving events contested to earn Summit League Women's Diver of the Week honors for the fifth time this season.Â
