Coyotes back in action at West Regional Qualifier

The Race

South Dakota women's triathlon will race at the Heartland Triathlon Cup, which will serve as the West Regional Qualifier for nationals, Saturday at 9 a.m. The race takes place at Stockton First Beach in Stockton, Missouri.

The Coyotes

South Dakota opened its fall at the Oktoberfest Invitational in Longmont, Colorado, back in September. Senior Ella Kubas led the Coyotes in the opener with a ninth-place finish in 1:03:14. Sophomore Kayla Ribbink finished 12th as the second Coyote across the line. Senior Teagan Shapansky, freshman Chelsea Webber and senior Tessa Brennan joined them in the top-25. The Coyotes went up against the other three teams that finished in the top-four of the USA Triathlon National Championships at the meet.

The Competition

The meet serves as a qualifier for the upcoming USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships. The Coyotes will compete against a handful of teams including defending national champion Arizona State, San Francisco, Denver and Delaware State.
