The South Dakota men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action from the Big O Classic with 36 holes on Monday. The Coyotes shot a 298 in round one and then moved up five spots with a 286 in round two. USD currently sits in a tie for seventh place with the third and final round coming up tomorrow morning. South Dakota was paced by
Max Schmidtke in day one with back-to-back even-par rounds.

Schmidtke's day consisted of six birdies with four of those coming in the second round. He also sank an eagle on the par-five 11th hole in round one and was one of 18 players to score an eagle during the day. Schmidtke will look for his first top-15 finish of the season as he enters the final day in a tie for 13th place.

Hunter Rebrovich and
Bryce Hammer mirrored scores on the first day with both scoring a four-over par 76 in round one before ending the day with a two-under par 70 in the second trip around the course. Rebrovich did not score a birdie in the first round but had five in the second including back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 and back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16. Hammer had one in round one before carding five in the second 18. He had a streak of four straight birdies stretching from holes nine through 13 with his fifth of the round coming on the par-five 15th hole. Both Rebrovich and Hammer are in a tie for 21st place heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Sophomore
Logan Hamak scored two rounds of two-over par 74 in day one of the Big O Classic. Hamak had four birdies on the day with three of those coming in the second round. He sits in a tie for 34th place after two rounds of action.

Nick LaMotte scored rounds of 80 and 77 in the first day. LaMotte carded one birdie in round one before carding three more birdies in round two. Two of those came within a stretch of three holes on the back nine of round two. He is in a tie for 84th place individually with one more round to go.

Senior
Ryan Neff was one of three individuals competing in this tournament. He posted a one-over par 73 and a four-over par 76 in day one. Neff had three birdies in the first round including back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 and added two more to that total in the second 18. He ended the day in a tie for 46th place.

Ian Johnston recorded the best round for South Dakota in round one with a one-under par 71 before posting a score of 79 in round two. Johnston had five birdies in round one and added one more in round two. He stands in a tie for 57th place individually entering the final round tomorrow.

Freshman
Danny Renner made his Coyote debut today with rounds of 77 and 81 at the Big O Classic. He scored three birdies in round one before replicating that with three more birdies in round two. Renner is in a tie for 87th place individually.

The third and final round gets underway tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. The last round will be a shotgun start from Indian Creek Golf Course.
