PALM CITY, Fla. – The South Dakota men's golf team completed day one of the three round tournament at the Advance Partner's Intercollegiate tournament. USD compiled a 294 team score in round one to sit in 10th place out of 21 teams. Round two of the tournament is set to begin tomorrow with tee times beginning at 6:30 am CT.

The Coyotes were led by junior Ian Johnston in the first round of action. Johnston fired off a career-low 2-under par 70 to start his spring season. Johnston headed into the back nine sitting at 3-over before carding three straight birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to get him back to even par. The junior from Swisher, Iowa, continued his hot streak with an eagle on the par-5 15th hole to push his score under par. Johnston parred the remaining three holes to finish the day at 2-under par and in 12th place individually.

Max Schmidtke and Hunter Rebrovich both finished at 2-over on the day and in a tie for 47th place individually. Schmidtke scored a birdie on the par-4 5th hole while Reborvich recorded two birdies on the day on the 8th and 17th holes.

Returning to action after missing the previous four events due to injury, Ben Hicks completed his first round with a 4-over par 76. Hicks scored one birdie on the day at the par-3 8th hole and placed in a tie for 73rd after round one. Rounding out the lineup for the Coyotes is Ryan Neff who completed his round at 6-over 78. Competing as individual, Nick LaMotte carded a 5-over 77 that included two birdies in the opening 18.
