PALM CITY, Fla. – South Dakota men's golf team completed their final day at the Advance Partner's Intercollegiate tournament with a 318 team score, bringing their three-day total to 912 and a tie for 16th place. The Coyote were paced by junior Max Schmidtke who finished in a tie for 27th overall.
Schmidtke recorded scores of 74-75-73 in his three rounds. His best stretch of golf came on the back nine on the final day. Schmidtke recorded three birdies to enter the last six holes at 1-under. He finished at 3-over for a 222 overall score.
After a career-low in the opening round, junior Ian Johnston carded rounds of 70-74-79 in the three-day event. Johnston sank three birdies in his final round to bring his three-day total to 12 birdies, good for second most in the tournament. He was also one of 18 players to score an eagle during the three rounds.
Junior Ryan Neff recorded rounds of 78-75-81 for a 234 total while junior Hunter Rebrovich carded a 238 (74-79-85) total. After returning to the lineup and registering rounds of 76 and 78 in the first two days, Ben Hicks withdrew in the final round due to injury. Nick LaMotte recorded rounds of 77-77-80 to bring his total to 234 overall.
USD quickly turns around and heads to Goodyear, Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate tournament next week. The three-day event is scheduled to begin on Feb. 20.
