South Dakota women's golf is set to kick-off its spring schedule at the Texas State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The Coyotes will travel down to Kyle, Texas, to compete in the 14-team tournament at Plum Creek Golf Course.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30Â a.m. before a final 18-hole round with another 8:30Â a.m. shotgun start Tuesday. Plum Creek Golf Course lays as a par 72 and will play from 6,285 yards.
USD's lineup will feature senior Laerke Jensen, sophomore Danica Badura, sophomore Akari Hayashi, junior Jalea Culliver, and freshman Paige Hoffman. Senior Molly Fossen will compete as an individual for the Yotes. Jensen was named a Summit League golfer to watch this spring as announced by the league office. It is the second year in a row the Hobro, Denmark, native has appeared on the Summit's list.
The Coyotes are coming off their highest finish of the fall season after placing second at the Grandover Classic. South Dakota had two golfers place in the top 10 in Jensen with a fifth-place finish and Badura with a ninth-place finish.
Jensen leads the team with a 74.2 stroke average on the year and five top-10 placements. Badura is right behind Jensen with a 76 stroke average and two top-10 finishes in the fall.
