The Coyotes
South Dakota (18-5, 11-1) sits tied atop the Summit League regular season standings with SDSU. The Coyotes are looking for the program's 75th win inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center since it opened in 2016. The 'super' senior trio of
Chloe Lamb,
Hannah Sjerven and
Liv Korngable lead the Coyotes for the second-straight year. Lamb's averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game, Sjerven tallied her 25th career double-double last time out and Korngable is chasing her 1,000th career point. Korngable enters the weekend 39 points shy of the milestone. Second-year freshmen
Maddie Krull and
Kyah Watson round out the starting five. Krull had a stretch of four-straight double figure games after the last meeting with Omaha.
The Mavericks
Omaha (6-16, 2-11) makes its first trip to Vermillion since 2020 after COVID-19 canceled last year's regular season series. The Mavericks are battling for a spot in the Summit League Tournament and a chance to repeat their Cinderella run from a year ago. Omaha is led in scoring by Mariah Murdie (11.1 ppg) and Elena Pilakouta (10.7 ppg). Pilakouta was limited in minutes in the previous meeting against the Coyotes due to an injury that also held her out of two Summit games.
The Series
South Dakota leads the all-time series with Omaha 51-35. The Coyotes have won the last nine meetings and 24 of the last 26.
One Last Thing
The Coyotes hold the Summit League record for the longest stretch of consecutive league home wins with 36. USD has outscored Summit foes by an average of 26.5 points during the streak.
