Coyotes Return to Action in Stampede at the Creek

South Dakota makes a quick trip south to compete at the Stampede at the Creek hosted by Omaha. The event will take place on Monday and Tuesday with 54 total holes being played and sees both the men's and women's teams competing in the same tournament. Located in Elkhorn, Nebraska, Indian Creek Golf Club will play as a par 72 and covers 7,242 yards.

USD is one of nine teams participating in this event. Five of those nine teams are Summit League teams including South Dakota, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Omaha, St. Thomas, and Western Illinois. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start on Monday and tee times on Tuesday.

This tournament provides a non-traditional format for teams and scoring. The teams will have six players in the lineup and count the top four scores towards the team total. South Dakota's lineup will feature junior Max Schmidtke, junior Hunter Rebrovich, junior Ian Johnston, sophomore Nick LaMotte, junior Ryan Neff, and freshman Logan Hamak.

The Coyotes are well-rested after a three-week break from their previous tournament in Springfield, Missouri. South Dakota finished in 16th place after weather shortened the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate to a two-round event. Schmidtke led the team with his highest placement of the spring season. The junior compiled a two-round score of 144 (73-71) for a tie for 19th place individually.

USD last competed at this tournament back in April of 2021. Neff and Johnston participated in that event with South Dakota recording their highest placement of the 2021 with a fourth-place finish.
