ELKHORN, Neb. - The Coyotes are in second place after rounds of 303 and 290 in the first day of action at the Stampede at the Creek. The 290 in round two is a new program record for the lowest team round in program history. Three Coyotes are in the top eight individually after the first day with
Akari Hayashi leading the way for South Dakota.
Hayashi began her day with a 75 in round one. She followed that by tying her career-low round with a 2-under 70 in round two. Hayashi sank four birdies within a seven-hole stretch in round one. She started her second round with an eagle on the par-five 13th hole and scored two birdies within the first nine holes of her second round. Hayashi is in the mix for the highest finish in her career as she sits in third place individually after two rounds.
Laerke Jensen carded a 77 in round one before coming up one stroke short of tying her career-best with a 1-under 71 in round two. She recorded a clean front nine in round two that included two birdies. She sank four birdies in total and is in a tie for 8th place after a 4-over par two-round total.
Joining Jensen in a tie for eighth place is
Danica Badura. Badura recorded rounds of 77 and 71 in the first day of action. She was one stroke shy of tying her career-best round of 70. She scored a front nine in round two that included no damage and two birdies. Badura sank four birdies in total on the day and is in contention for her first top-five finish this season.
Paige Hoffman tallied her second-best round this season with a 2-over par 74 in round one. Hoffman managed a clean front nine and scored her lone birdie of the day on hole six. She followed that with a 79 in round two and is in a tie for 13th place individually.
Megan Munneke carded identical rounds of 77 in her two trips around the course on Monday. Munneke sank her lone birdie of the day on the 18th hole in her second round. She is in 21st place after the first day of action.
Molly Fossen carded rounds of 77 and 78 in day one at the Stampede at the Creek. She sank four birdies in total in day one. Fossen is in a tie for 22nd place after an 11-over par day.
Emma Sabbagh carded rounds of 77 and 78 in the first day at Indian Creek Golf Course. She sank one birdie in round one before recording two more in round two. Sabbagh is the second Coyote in the tie for 22nd place individually after the first two rounds.
Jalea Culliver recorded a 79 in round one before she tied her career-best round of 76 in round two. Culliver scored one birdie in each of her two rounds today and is the third Coyote in a tie for 22nd place. She is looking for the highest finish of her career with one round left to complete.
Liz Duncan ended her first rounds of the spring season with a 79 and 81. Duncan is in a tie for 32nd place with a 160 total score.
The third and final round begins with tee times at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow from Elkhorn, Nebraska.
