NEWTON, Kan. – South Dakota completed the first round of the Summit League Championships on Sunday. The Coyotes compiled a 308 team score and sit in fifth place after day one. Freshman Paige Hoffman posted the best score for USD in round one and is tied for eighth place individually.
 
Hoffman was the first Coyote to complete the round on Sunday. She parred eight of the nine holes on the front and sank two birdies on the back nine. Hoffman ended her day with a birdie on the par-four 18th hole and recorded the third-best scoring average of par-four holes with a 3.80 scoring average in round one.
 
Laerke Jensen and Danica Badura both recorded a 5-over par 77 in round one. Jensen carded 11 straight pars to begin her day and ended the round with a par on the 18th hole. Badura scored a birdie on the par-five 2nd hole and the par-four 15th hole to highlight her first round. Jensen and Badura are tied for 16th place individually.
 
Molly Fossen carded a 7-over 79 in round one. She scored her lone birdie of the day on the par-four 5th hole. Fossen currently sits in a tie for 29th place individually. Akari Hayashi recorded an 83 and is tied for 38th place individually after day one.
 
The second round for South Dakota gets underway tomorrow morning from Sand Creek Station Golf Course. Hayashi will have the first tee time for USD at 8:50 a.m. followed by Fossen at 9:00 a.m., Badura at 9:10 a.m., Jensen at 9:20 a.m., and Hoffman at 9:30 a.m.
