Calling All Coyotes auction

Record attendance helps raise $370,000 at Calling All Coyotes

04.25.2022

VERMILLION, S.D.—The ninth annual Calling All Coyotes Auction held April 22 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center saw a crowd of more than 700 help raise more than $370,000 which helps The Howling Pack support the University of South Dakota student-athletes. The event serves as an evening of celebration dedicated to the achievements of USD student-athletes while recognizing a community that helps create opportunities for their success.

"Seeing the room come together Friday was a sight to see," said USD athletic director David Herbster. "Once it filled with more than 700 loyal fans, it only made the night more impressive and a great way to recognize our student-athletes and celebrate their accomplishments all while raising money to support their scholarships. This speaks volumes about our staff, the community and dedicated volunteers who continue to make this night so special."

CorTrust Bank was the presenting sponsor for the evening, which included silent and live auctions with auctioneer Wayne Haines, music from the Hegg Brothers, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and dinner. Included throughout the audience were numerous Coyote coaches, staff members and student-athletes. Voice of the Coyotes John Thayer of Coyote Sports Properties and Jay Elsen of the Midco Sports Network served as emcees.

"This was our second year in the larger space at the Sioux Falls Convention Center and the audience continues to grow," said Jeff Seagren, South Dakota's assistant athletic director for development and a Coyote track and field alum. "Attendees show so much enthusiasm and passion for Coyote athletics. I would like to thank The Event Company, all Calling All Coyotes committee members, the Howling Pack Board and all the volunteers. This wouldn't be possible without the countless hours making sure the evening would be a successful and positive experience."

A long weekend in Nantucket, a week in Seaside Florida, five days in a beautiful home in sunny Arizona and a 20's themed weekend in New York City were among the many items sold during the auction. With this year's total of over $370,000, the Calling All Coyotes Auction has raised more than $2.8 million for the Howling Pack and student-athlete scholarships over the last nine years.

"This is such a fun way to support scholarships," said Hillary Sosinski, the Coyotes' coordinator for events and communications. "Having guests dress in their best reds and getting to interact with student-athletes and coaches is what makes this a unique event. It was exciting to see a record number of loyal Coyotes in attendance, and I'm optimistic that next year will be even bigger."

In addition to presenting sponsor CorTrust Bank, other event sponsors include: Sanford Health, First PREMIER Bankcard, First Dakota National Bank, Eide Bailly, Daktronics, Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, Maguire Iron, Coyote Sports Properties, and RBC Wealth Management – James Clement

The 10th annual Calling All Coyotes Auction is set for April 14, 2023.
