South Dakota women's golfer
Laerke Jensen added another academic award to her career with an Academic All-Summit League selection announced by the league on Thursday. Jensen was one of five women's golfers chosen to the team and becomes the third straight Academic All-Summit honor for the senior.
In her final season as a Coyote, Jensen played some of the best golf of her career. She played in all 11 tournaments in the 2021-22 season for a total of 33 rounds. Jensen led the team and tied for eighth in the Summit with a 75 stroke average. The Hobro, Denmark, native recorded five top-10 finishes this season including a career-best second-place finish at the Diane Daugherty Invite. She scored career-lows in round (70) and 54-hole score (218) in her senior campaign. With a 17th place finish individually, Jensen finished the highest for the Coyotes at this season's Summit League Championships after a 229 three-round total. Jensen totaled a 76.99 career scoring average and a 66.9 career win-loss percentage which both currently stand as second-best in program history. She completed her degree in accounting this spring with a 4.0 GPA.Â
This is the second all-Summit honor for Jensen this season after she was voted to the all-Summit first team. She also earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large team and awaits a possible CoSIDA Academic All-America selection to be announced on June 15.
Criteria for the Academic All-League teams include having at least a 3.3 cumulative career grade-point average, have completed at least one full academic year at the current institution, and have participated in 50 percent of their team's completed competitions.
