NEWTON, Kan. – The South Dakota men's golf team shot its best round of the Summit League Championships in the third and final round on Tuesday. The Coyotes shot a 294 as a team in the third round and jumped up one spot in the team standings for a seventh-place finish with a final score of 892. Junior
Max Schmidtke paced the Coyotes with his third straight even-par score in day three and recorded a tie for ninth place with a 216 (72-72-72) score. With Schmidtke's top-10 finish, it is now the fifth straight time the Coyotes have had a top-10 individual finish at the Summit League Championships.

Schmitdke started the day off with a birdie on the par-five 10th hole. He sank four more on the day including back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16. The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native averaged the eighth-best scoring average on par-five holes with a 3-under par average and the 11th-best scoring average on par-four holes with a 4.03 stroke average. Schmidtke led the team with 11 birdies and 33 pars during the tournament in his first Summit League Championships appearance.

Sophomore
Nick LaMotte carded a 1-over par 73 in round three. He sank three birdies on the day including back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17. LaMotte finished with the second-best scoring average on par-three holes with a 1-under average and tied Schmidtke for the team lead in birdies with 11. The Lakeville, Minnesota, native finished in a tie for 16th place by setting his new 54-hole score low with a 219 (72-74-73) in his first Summit League Championships.

Hunter Rebrovich bounced back with an ever-par 72 in the final round. Rebrovich carded three birdies on the day including back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17. He recorded a clean front nine with a birdie on hole 5 for a 1-under front nine. Rebrovich finished in a tie for 34th place after a 229 (76-81-72) three-round total.

Ryan Neff shot a 5-over par 77 in the third round. He sank his lone birdie of the day on his second hole of the round. Neff's three-round total of 232 (79-76-77) placed him in a tie for 44th place individually.

Ian Johnston scored a 5-over par 77 in the closing round. He carded four birdies on the day with three of those coming on the front nine including back-to-back birdies on holes 5 and 6. Johnston's three-day total score of 233 (76-80-77) earned him a tie for 46th place individually.

As a team, South Dakota recorded the fourth-most birdies in the three days with 44 total birdies. USD also averaged the sixth-best scoring average on par-five holes with a 5.03 stroke average. Â
