South Dakota women's golf head coach
Brett Bennett is excited to announce the addition of Emma Henningsson to the 2022-23 roster. Henningsson becomes the third member of the 2022 class and brings the roster to six golfers.
"Emma will be a great addition to our program for the fall," said Bennett. "Her experience playing in many junior and amateur events throughout Europe, and her commitment to the game on a daily basis, has built a foundation for her to be successful. I am excited to get her on campus here in a few short weeks!"
Hailing from Jonkoping, Sweden, Henningsson will head to South Dakota after graduating from Filbornaskolan High School last spring. She was recently ranked 31st of women's golfers under 21 in Sweden and played in eight tournaments in 2022. She ended the 2022 season with an 18th-place finish at the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open Championships and a 22nd-place finish at the 2022 Grand Opening.  Henningsson, most notably, took home a first-place crown at the 2022 Junior Masters Invitational to highlight her 2022 year. Henningsson competed in events for Sweden as early as age 13. She finished first at the 2016 Swedish National Finals for golfers aged 13 and followed that up by finishing third at the Swedish National Finals two years later at age 15. Henningsson was also a member of the Swedish National Team at the 2016 Nordic Junior Match at the age of 13.
Henningsson is the daughter of Leif Henningsson and Lisa Makhalima. She plans to get her degree in psychology while attending South Dakota.
