VERMILLION, S.D.—The two-time national runner-up South Dakota triathlon team will begin its fourth season in September.
An early season cross country race at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 2 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, will serve as training for the final stage of a triathlon race.
South Dakota officially opens the triathlon season in Colorado the weekend of Sept. 24-25. The Coyotes will compete at the Oktoberfest Invitational in Longmont on Sept. 24 followed by the Division I Relays between South Dakota, Arizona State, San Francisco and Denver on Sept. 25 in Denver.
That will serve as preparation for the West Regional Qualifier held Oct. 15 in Stockton, Missouri. The Coyotes will look to qualify through to nationals from the regional meet.
The USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships return to Tempe Town Lake on Nov. 12 in Tempe, Arizona. South Dakota placed third at the national meet a year ago after runner-up performances in the program's first two seasons (2018, 2019).
