MIAMI, Fla. – South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving competed Tuesday at the FIU Sprint Invite hosted by Florida International University inside the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.

The Coyote men captured the team title while the women's team finished second in a meet that was added to the schedule on Monday.

South Dakota men won seven of the 10 individual swim events contested in the unique style meet that saw no event over 200 yards.

The seven individual race victories were won by seven different men – Aidan Gatenbein,
Jack Berdahl,
Mack Sathre,
Zachary Kopp,
Cory Jacocks,
Jacob Ketterling and
Matthew Sorbe.

Gantenbein, a former junior college National Champ in the 50 back, won the race in 24.46 seconds, edging out teammate
Parker Sonnabend, who was third in 25.30.

Berdahl, a sophomore, captured the 50 breast race while Sathre, a senior, won the 50 fly and Kopp, a senior, won the 50 free.

Jacocks, a senior, touched the wall first in the 100 IM while a pair of freshmen earned their first career collegiate victories as Sorbe, competing in his first collegiate meet, won the 200 free after finishing second in the 50 free and Ketterling claimed the 100 fly.

Five different Coyotes posted runner-up finishes as Gantenbein was second in the 50 fly, Sonnabend in the 50 free,
Keegan Henning in the 200 free,
Griffin Wolner in the 100 fly and
Grant Wolner in the 100 breast.

South Dakota women had two individuals –
Cassie Ketterling and
Christina Spomer – post third place finishes while
Stella Fairbanks placed fourth in both diving events.

Ketterling, a fifth-year senior, was third in the 100 fly while Spomer, a sophomore, touched the wall third in the 50 free.

South Dakota resumes its schedule on Jan. 20 in a home dual against Summit League for St. Thomas before traveling to Brookings on Jan. 21 to face rival South Dakota State.
