Bradley Pink Classic up next for Coyotes

10.12.2023

The Meet

South Dakota's cross country teams travel to Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Pink Classic held at the Newman Golf Course on Friday. The men's 8,000-meter race is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the women's 6,000-meter race to follow at 3:45 p.m.

The Coyotes

The Bradley Pink Classic will serve as a final tune-up for the Coyotes ahead of the Summit League Championships at the end of October. South Dakota will make its eighth appearance at Bradley and the program's first since 2021.

Last time out at the Roy Griak Invitational, the women's team recorded a stellar ninth-place finish in the nationally star-studded field. The performance vaulted them into the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional rankings at No. 11. After two weekends off, the Coyote women currently stand at No. 13 in the Midwest. Fourth-year junior Abrielle Jirele led the charge in Minnesota with a 16th-place finish in the field. She was the top Summit League finisher at the Griak and went on to be named the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week following the meet on Sept. 26. The Coyotes have had three different front runners this fall – with seventh-year senior Abby Ripperda and freshman Madison Brouwer also taking the baton for a race.

The Coyote men have been busy training since their last formal competition on Sept. 8. Sophomore Carson Lauterbach, a transfer from Northwest Missouri State, paced the men at the first two races of the season. He clocked a team-best 8,000-meter time of 26:17.61 at the SDSU Classic.

The Competition

In addition to South Dakota and host Bradley, the field is expected to include several Division I programs from throughout the Midwest.

Up Next

A few members of the Coyotes' squad will travel to Yankton, South Dakota, for the Mount Marty Invitational on Oct. 21. The Summit League Championships are set for Oct. 28 in Brookings, South Dakota.
