VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota triathlon coach Kyle Joplin is pleased to announce the addition of Alexa Magallon to the team roster. While she's training with the team this fall, her first season of NCAA eligibility will be the fall of 2024.
 
Hailing from Arlesheim, Switzerland, Magallon transfers to South Dakota from the University of Basel, located in her home country. Magallon finished runner-up in the U16-19 age group at the 2019 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Lausanne with a time of 1:08:47.
 
Last spring, she placed fourth at the 2023 World Triathlon Duathlon Championships in Ibiza and eighth at the 2023 Europe Triathlon Duathlon Championships in Venice-Caorle. She added a ninth-place finish at the 2023 World Triathlon Aquathlon Championships in Ibiza.
 
Magallon plans to study kinesiology and sport management with an emphasis in exercise science at South Dakota.
