Kyle Joplin is pleased to announce the signing of Mia Morente, Sydni Sawyer and Clara Williams to National Letters of Intent.
Mia Morente | Gig Harbor, Washington | Gig Harbor HS
Mia Morente placed 28th in her age division over the summer at the 2023 World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships in Hamburg, Germany. She clocked a time of 1:16:39. A native of Gig Harbor, Washington, Morente was a four-year varsity cross country and track athlete for the Tides. She clocked a personal best of 20:44.0 for 5,000-meters in cross country and owns personal record times of 5:20.42 for 1,600 meters and 12:21.01 for 3,200 meters on the track. Morente plans to study kinesiology and sport management at South Dakota.
Sydni Sawyer | Cheyenne, Wyoming | Cheyenne East HS
Sydni Sawyer competed in both swimming & diving and track & field during a prep career at Cheyenne East High School. She was a five-time all-conference and two-time all-state honoree in the pool, while also picking up a pair of all-state honors for indoor track and field. Sawyer owns personal bests of 5:15.21 for the 500 free, 1:57.73 for the 200 free and 2:15.01 in the 200 IM in the pool. She also carries personal bests of 5:23 for 1,600 meters and 11:47 for 3,200 meters on the track. An honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, Sawyer plans to study sport marketing and media at USD.
Clara Williams | Littleton, Colorado | Columbine HS
Clara Williams competed for the Rebels as a three-sport athlete in swimming & diving, cross country and golf. She garnered all-Jeffco Conference honors the past three seasons and qualified for sectionals. She owns personal bests of 20:22 for 5,000-meters on the cross country course and 18:20 for the mile swim. An academic letterwinner and member of the National Honor Society, Williams plans to major in kinesiology and sport management at South Dakota.
The trio will be eligible to compete for the Coyotes in the fall of 2024.
