South Dakota men's and women's track and field is participating in a trio of meets this weekend.
THE COYOTES
Erin Kinney was named the Summit Women's Track Peak Performer for the fourth consecutive week after setting the school record, DakotaDome facility record and the state of South Dakota collegiate record with a 7.27 clocking in the 60 dash finals. She is ranked 17th nationally with that mark.
Marleen Mulla was named the Summit Women's Field Peak Performer after setting a meet record and state of South Dakota collegiate mark in the pole vault at the Alumni Classic. Mulla cleared a personal best 14-10 (4.52m) to move to second nationally.
South Dakota women currently lead the Summit League in seven events plus the 4x400 meter relay while the men's team accounts for two Summit League top marks as
Dylan Kautz leads the 60 meter dash at 6.78 seconds and
Marshall Faurot leads the pole vault at 17-2.75.
Danii Anglin owns the indoor school record and top mark in the Summit League in the high jump at 6-1.25.
Meredith Clark has a best of 50-5.5 (15.38m) to pace the women's shot put leaderboard while
Lydia Knapp owns the top mark in the weight throw at 67-8.75 (20.64m).
Jacy Pulse owns the top time in the league in the 400 (54.29).
HUSKY CLASSIC
A trio of South Dakota distance runners will compete in the Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor, one of the nation's fastest indoor tracks.
Abrielle Jirele and
Merga Gemeda will compete in the 3,000 on Friday and the mile on Saturday while
Ella Byers will run the mile on Saturday.
Jirele, a third-year sophomore, is the Summit League leader in the 3,000 and ranks fourth in the mile.
Byers, a fourth-year junior, sits fifth in the Summit League in the mile while Gemeda, a fifth-year senior, is sitting sixth in the mile and eighth in the 3,000 in Summit League ranks.
TYSON INVITATIONAL
A select group of runners, jumpers and throwers are in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Tyson Invitational.
Kinney, Mulla, Knapp, Clark, Faurot and Anglin are all scheduled to compete in Arkansas.
SDSU INDOOR
The majority of the track and field team will be in Brookings, South Dakota, to compete in the SDSU Indoor inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Complex.
Pulse and Kautz led the Coyote contingent competing in Brookings.
ONE LAST THING
South Dakota will close the indoor regular season in Lincoln, Nebraska, participating in the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 17.
