South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving teams head to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the Summit League Championships that will take place inside the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
TEAMS
The eight-team Summit League field includes Denver, Eastern Illinois, Omaha, St. Thomas, South Dakota, South Dakota State, South Indiana and Lindenwood.
SCHEDULE
Spread out over four days, there will be 14 individual events, five relays and two diving competitions for both men and women.
LAST YEAR
South Dakota men and women finished as league runners-up in 2022 in Fargo as the men's team scored 723 points and the women a school-record 748. The Coyote men's team, behind the strength of five seniors, have finished second or better five straight seasons. The Coyote women, meanwhile, return seven All-Summit League performers from last year's runner-up finish.
Stella Fairbanks, a junior, won the one-meter diving competition while finishing second on the three-meter board and was named championship diving MVP.
WHO TO WATCH
Zachary Kopp, senior, is an eight-time Summit League Champion and 15-time All-Summit League honoree. Kopp is ranked in the top 10 in the Summit League in three events, 100 back, 100 IM and 100 fly.
Mack Sathre, a senior, is the two-time defending league champion in the 100 IM and owns the Summit League record in the event of 49.18. He ranks in the top 10 in the league in five different individual events.
Adam Fisher, a sophomore, is the Summit League leader in the 100 back, where he was fourth last year. He was the Summit League runner-up in the 200 back a year ago.
Cassie Ketterling, a fifth-year senior, earned All-Summit League honors in seven events a year ago and became just the second Coyote in Summit League history to win two individual league titles in the same meet when she captured the 100 IM and 200 IM.
Emily Kahn, a sophomore, ranks in the top 10 in the Summit League in four individual events.
