Men's Golf Sets Records at Duel at The Bluffs

The South Dakota men's golf team broke numerous individual and team records at the Duel at The Bluffs versus South Dakota State on Monday. USD's teams came in second and third place at the event with a combined total of 23-under par through 36 holes.

The Coyotes A team consisting of Ben Hicks, Max Schmidtke, Hunter Rebrovich, Bryce Hammer, and Danny Renner totaled a 571 total score. The five-under par total set a record for lowest 36-hole score previously set last season with a 602 at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate. Schmidtke posted the best score for USD's A team with a 138 (68-70) total score.

The Coyotes had numerous individuals break program and personal bests on Monday. Nick LaMotte had the best two rounds at The Bluffs with a 68 in round one and a 64 in round two. The 64 he posted tied for the lowest round in program history set originally by Tommy Vining in 2017. LaMotte's 132 total score set a program record for lowest 36-hole score by an individual, breaking the previous best of 141 by Ryan Bak in 2007. The junior finished in second place individually at the meet.

LaMotte (132), Logan Hamak (136), Schmidtke (138), Ian Johnston (141), Ben Hicks (141), Danny Renner (148), and Ryan Neff (149) all posted career-best 36-hole scores.

LaMotte (64), Hamak (67), Johnston (68), and Neff (68) all carded career-low rounds at the duel. Schmidtke (68) and Renner (71) tied their career-best rounds on Monday.

South Dakota will wrap up the regular season in Tunica, Mississippi, next week. The Tunica National Intercollegiate is a two-day event and begins on Monday, April 17. This is the final tournament before the Summit League Championships that begin on April 30 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
