Durst 23rd to lead high jump trio at NCAA West

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—South Dakota fifth-year senior Jack Durst finished 23rd to headline a trio of Coyotes in action in the men's high jump Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary inside Hornet Stadium.

Durst cleared 6-10 ¼ (2.04m) on a second attempt, which placed him 23rd in the field of 48. He went out at the fourth height of the competition, missing three shots at 7-0 ¼ (2.14m). Durst was making his fourth career appearance at the NCAA West Preliminary.

South Dakota tied for the second-most qualifiers to the NCAA preliminary round in the men's high jump with three. Freshman Landon Olson and Dakota State transfer Joe Lynch joined Durst, each making their first career appearance at the meet.

It's the women in action Saturday for the final day of the NCAA West Preliminary. South Dakota's four qualifiers on the women's side has already tied the most women the program has sent in a single year to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Four more women, in addition to the 4x100-meter relay, will look to add to that total on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. Central.
