Coyote women take on Roy Griak Invitational

The Meet

South Dakota women's cross country travels to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the Roy Griak Invitational held Friday at Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Jack Johnson Women's Gold race is scheduled for a 10:45 a.m. start.

The Coyotes

It's the third race in the month of September for South Dakota. As September turns the corner into October, we are headed into the meat of the cross country season with the Summit League Championships just over a month away.

The Coyote women placed three individuals inside the top-10 last time out at the SDSU Classic. Seventh-year senior Abby Ripperda led the way in third place with a 5,000-meter time of 18:02.60. Freshman Madison Brouwer, recently named the Siouxland Female Athlete of the Year, finished one spot back in fourth and fourth-year junior Abrielle Jirele was seventh.

The Competition

Friday's race will be the first outside of state lines this season. Historically the Roy Griak Invitational includes a stacked field taking on a difficult course filled with rolling hills.

Up Next

South Dakota heads to Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 13.
