COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho—South Dakota sophomore Catie Nekola shot a final round, 3-over par 74 Tuesday and placed 37th in a field of more than 70 golfers at the Coeur D'Alene Resort Invitational hosted by Gonzaga. The 54-hole event spanned Sunday through Tuesday.
Nekola shot rounds of 77, 73 and 74 and finished 11-over for the tournament. Teammate Emma Henningsson shot 77 Tuesday and placed 47th at 14-over. Ella Greenberg (+18), Alexa Wingnean (+18) and Ava Schroeder (+20) also contributed to the team tally. Lara Gehring competed individually and placed 51st at 16-over.
South Dakota posted its best team score Tuesday at 300 and placed 13th overall at 58-over. Champion UC Davis' score of 7-under was 15 shots better than runner-up San Francisco. Gonzaga's Grace Lee shot 13-under to run away with medalist honors.
The Idaho event was the third for the Coyotes this fall. USD stays near the west coast to compete in Seattle's Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite Oct. 2-3 in Tacoma, Washington.
