The Coyotes hit the road again this weekend for the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State. The two-day event begins with a shotgun start Sunday morning. Participants will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday.
The tournament will be held at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Illinois. The course is par 72 and spans 6,093 yards.
The field consists of 16 teams including Summit League competitors South Dakota State which will open its season at this tournament. Last year South Dakota State's Alex Kandolin tied with South Dakota's Danica Badura at the Summit League Championships. Kandolin will return to the Jackrabbits this season.
South Dakota's roster includes five Coyotes playing as a team and one playing as an individual. Leading the team are freshmen Ava Schroeder and Ella Greenberg. Schroeder and Greenberg placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the NDSU Fall Invitational on Wednesday. Sophomores Catie Nekola and Alexa Wingnean are also on the team roster for Sunday. Rounding out the team is freshman Lara Gehring who tied for 15th with Nekola at the NDSU Fall Invite finishing 15-over.
Sophomore Emma Henningsson will be competing for the Coyotes as an individual. Henningsson tied for 19th with Wingnean at the NDSU Fall Invite, shooting 22-over par.
The Coyotes had a team score of 622 (+46) at the NDSU Invite which was the third best in program history. South Dakota hopes to improve on that mark at the Redbird Invitational.
