VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's basketball head coach
Carrie Eighmey is excited to announce three additions to the Class of 2025 on signing day.
Tori Schlagel (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Alyssa Bartlett (Pleasant Hill, Iowa), and Brooke Jensen (Vermillion, S.D.) will join the Coyotes as incoming freshmen in 2025. The trio has combined for over 2,500 points in their prep careers so far.
Alyssa Bartlett
Bartlett is a point guard from Pleasant Hill, Iowa (Southeast Polk HS). She has been a team captain for Southeast Polk while leading the team in assists her freshman and sophomore seasons and leading the team in scoring as a junior last year. As the point guard for the Rams, Bartlett also led the team in rebounds as a sophomore.
"We are thrilled Alyssa has signed on to be a Yote!" Eighmey said. "She is a floor general type of point guard who makes her teammates better and also has the ability to score. She's quick, physical, and tough. We can't wait for her to be in a Yote uniform!"
A three-sport athlete for the Rams, Bartlett also competes in cross country and track and field. She has received 3.5 or better GPA recognition for four straight semesters and plans to major in Elementary Education.
Brooke Jensen
A Coyote through-and-through, Jensen hails from Vermillion, S.D. (Vermillion HS). She is a two-time Class A all-State honoree and a three-time all-conference honoree for the Tanagers. Jensen also led the Tanagers to a Class A State Championship.
"Brooke is a great addition to our program!," Eighmey said. "She's been part of a winning high school program which is super important to our culture. She has great size and has a skill set that will allow her to be extremely versatile at the college level. She's been a lifelong Yote and will be a fantastic representative of our program!"
Jensen has surpassed 1,000 career points in a Vermillion High School jersey with single game bests of 34 points and 13 rebounds. A member of the National Honors Society, Jensen plans to major in Elementary Education at USD.
Tori Schlagel
Schlagel comes to USD from Eden Prairie High School, where she has been a two-year captain for the Eagles. Her junior season included being named to the Minnesota Class AAAA all-state team, the Star Tribune all-Metro Second Team, and to the all-conference team. Schlagel has been an all-conference member all three years of high school and was honorable mention all-state and all-metro last season.
"We are super excited about Tori's future as a Yote! She flat out competes every possession," Eighmey said. "She brings a toughness and competitiveness that will be really valuable to our program. Tori is a very skilled and smart combo guard. Yote fans will love watching Tori compete in the SCSC!"
She has complied over 1,000 points in her varsity career and holds the single season scoring record of 529 points and single game record of 36 points for Eden Prairie. An AP Scholar with Honors Award winner, Schlagel plans to major in Business at USD.
