LINCOLN, Neb.—South Dakota junior pole vaulter
Marleen Mülla vaulted the third-best height in the NCAA this season at the Nebraska Tune-Up Friday night inside the Devaney Center.
Mülla presumably secured her ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championships after clearing 14-7 ¼ (4.45m) in the competition. She had been sitting in a four-way tie for 16th on the national charts alongside teammate
Cassidy Mooneyhan prior to tonight's performance. Mooneyhan and senior
Gen Hirata tied for second in the competition with a clearance of 13-4 ½ (4.08m). All three women qualified for the 2023 NCAA meet.
Junior
Danii Anglin took first in the high jump field with a clearance of 5-8 ¾ (1.75m).
Matching her best leap in a Coyote uniform, junior
Sammy Neil recorded a mark of 19-4 (5.89m) to win the women's long jump. She ranks fourth in USD program history with the mark. Neil also enters next week's Summit meet ranked fourth in the event. Freshman
Taylor Bredthauer finished third in the competition with a season best 17-6 ¾ (5.35m).
Senior
Riley Griffith won the women's weight throw with a season best mark of 55-2 ¾ (16.83m). Sophomore
Kinsley Ragland took second in 53-2 ¼ (16.21m).
Junior
Averi Schmeichel cruised to a win in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.71 seconds.
Senior
Marshall Faurot tied for first in the men's pole vault, clearing 17-7 ¾ (5.38m) in the competition. Fourth-year junior
Eerik Haamer took third in 17-1 ¾ (5.23m).
After just narrowly missing a shot at the 7-foot club, junior
Joe Lynch tied his personal best of 6-11 (2.11m) for second place in the men's high jump. He leads the Summit this season with the mark.
Senior
Meredith Clark finished runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 50-5 ½ (15.38m). The Summit leader in the event, Clark has thrown past 50 feet at all six meets this season.
Returning back to the Midwest after a weekend of racing in Washington, distance runners
Ella Byers and
Madison Brouwer recorded new personal bests in the women's 800 meters. Byers finished runner-up in 2:11.52 while Brouwer took third in 2:11.93. Byers ranks seventh in USD program history and Brouwer sits 10th.
On the men's side, redshirt-sophomore
Mason Sindelar and sophomore
Carson Lauterbach both clocked new personal bests in the mile. Sindelar was edged out at the line and finished runner-up in 4:11.51. Lauterbach took third in 4:13.63.
Junior Tommy Nikkel finished runner-up in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.18 seconds.
Freshman
Tyler Laughlin took third in the men's shot put competition with a throw of 47-3 ¾ (14.42m).
Junior
Lauren Meyer was third in the women's triple jump after leaping 38-1 ¼ (11.61m).
The Coyotes are set for the Summit League Championships next Friday and Saturday in Fargo, North Dakota.
