ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.— The South Dakota men's golf team finished tied for sixth in an 18-team field at the World Golf Village Collegiate in St. Augustine, Florida, on Tuesday.
Max Schmidtke led the Coyotes with a 1-under par three-round score of 215, finishing tied for 11
th place.
The Coyotes finished with three golfers in the top 20 at the event. Schmidtke finished with an even-par round of 72 in round three, ending his tournament with a birdie on the final hole to finish 1-below par for the event.
Nick LaMotte and
Logan Hamak finished tied for 16
th place overall with a 1-over par final score of 217. Lamotte had the Coyotes' best individual round score of the tournament today, notching five birdies to finish with a 2-under par 70 for round three. Hamak had a 2-over par 74 in round three.
Freshman
Cole Witherow was the Coyotes' most consistent golfer, finishing with a 3-over par 75 for the third consecutive round today. He finished with a nine-over par total score of 225, good for a tie for 61
st place.
Ryan Neff turned in a 7-over par 79 in round three, to finish the tournament in a tie for 96
th place.
Freshman
Joe Rohlwing and
Parker Etzel played as individuals in the event. Rohlwing turned in a 5-over par 77 in the final round to finish in a tie for 69
th place, and Etzel finished tied for 106
th after he shot 83 for round three.
Stetson finished strong, rallying for the team title over Jacksonville State late. JSU's Erik Jansson took the individual title. The Coyotes tied with Bellermine for sixth place, finishing just one stroke behind fifth place UT-Martin.
South Dakota is back at it again with the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona starting on Sunday.
