VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota senior Max Schmidtke was named the Ticketsmarter #SummitGF Male Peak Golfer of the Week, the league announced Monday.  Schmidtke claimed the award on the heels of his performance at last weekend's World Golf Village Collegiate.
 
Schmidtke, who was named a Summit League "Golfer to Watch" preseason, finished tied for 11^th out of 108 golfers at the two-day, three-round event held in St. Augustine, Florida.  His three-round score of 215 saw him finish 1-under par for the weekend.  The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native knocked in ten birdies of the course of the event.  He led the Coyotes to a sixth-place finish in an 18-team field.  This is Schmidtke's first Summit Peak Golfer of the Week award of his decorated career. 
 
Schmidtke and his USD teammates are currently competing at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona.  Tee time for the event's third and final round is set for 8:45am CST tomorrow.
