MAYETTA, Kan.— Freshman
Ella Greenberg put up one of the top individual scores on the day as the South Dakota women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2024 Summit League Women's Golf Championship. USD finished seventh in the event.
Ella Greenberg posted the Coyotes top individual round score of the event, with a 1-under par 71 today. Her round featured a tournament high four birdies. Greenberg became one of just nine individuals to post a below-par round in the event. Her three-day total score was 228, which was 12-over par and saw her jump seven spots in the standings to finish tied for 14
th place overall.
Freshman
Lara Gehring proved to be the Coyotes' most consistent golfer in the event. She posted a third round score of 6-over 78, to go with her previous scores of 78 and 77. Gehring's round today featured three birdies and saw her finish with a total score of 17-over par 233. That was good for a tie for 21
st place.
Emma Henningsson was next for USD. She posted a 9-over par 81 today. The sophomore from Sweden finished with a total score of 239, which was 23-over par. She ended the tournament tied for 29
th place. Freshman
Ava Schroeder posted a 14-over 86 today, and finished with a total score of 26-over par 242, good for a tie for 34
th place. Sophomore
Catie Nekola shot a 10-over par 82. Her final score of 245 was 29-over par and saw her finish tied for 37
th place.
USD's team score today was 312, which game them a total score of 933 which is 69-over par. The Coyotes finished the tournament in 7
th place.
Denver successfully defended their team title, and the Pioneers' Clara Gestsdottir won the individual title.
South Dakota has now wrapped up the 2023-24 women's golf season. All seven Coyotes on the roster retain eligibility and can return next year.
