ELK HORN, Neb. - The South Dakota women's golf team will compete in the Stampede at the Creek this week. The two-day, three-round event will take place Monday and Tuesday at the Indian Creek Golf Course in Elkhorn, Nebraska, near Omaha.
All seven members of the USD women's golf team will compete in the event. The tournament will employ a unique play-six, count-four format. This means the Coyotes will have six golfers in their official lineup this week, one more than the usual five. South Dakota's official lineup will consist of
Catie Nekola,
Emma Henningsson,
Ella Greenberg,
Ava Schroeder,
Lara Gehring and
Alexa Wingnean.
Avery O'Donnell will also compete as an individual.
The event is hosted by fellow Summit League members Omaha. The event will serve as a bit of a preview of the coming Summit League Championships, as six of the eight Summit League schools will be on hand for the festivities. Joining the host Mavericks as Summit League representation are South Dakota, St. Thomas, SDSU, NDSU and North Dakota. The rest of the field includes Northern Iowa, Creighton, Green Bay and Western Illinois.
The tournament will tee off at 9:15am Monday morning. Round two will commence immediately following the conclusion of the first round. The third and final round will begin at 9:15am Tuesday. Indian Creek Golf Course features three separate 9-hole courses (Red Feather, Blackbird and Gray Hawk) that can be paired together to form an 18-hole round. The course hosts several events every summer including the Pinnacle Bank Championship, a Korn Ferry Tour event.
