Rivera transfers to USD

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota director of track & field/cross country Lucky Huber alongside head cross country coach Nolan Fife are pleased to announce the addition of graduate transfer Caleb Rivera from the University of Sioux Falls.
 
Rivera was a two-time all-NSIC honoree in cross country and a nine-time individual placewinner on the track for the Cougars. He owns a personal best of 3:46.08 in the 1,500 meters. He also holds USF's school record in the distance medley relay. Rivera also posted a time of 25:01 for 8,000 meters on the cross country course. A six-time NSIC All-Academic honoreee, Rivera graduated from USF with a bachelor's degree in biology. He plans to pursue a Master of Public Health from South Dakota.
 
A distance runner from St. James, Minnesota, Rivera was a two-time all-state honoree in cross country and a three-time state placewinner on the track at St. James High School. He won a Section 2A individual title in cross country. He was a member of the National Honor Society, an academic all-conference honoree and academic all-state. He also played ice hockey and tennis in high school.
 
Rivera joins the Coyote distance squad for the fall of 2024.
