Swimming and diving releases 2024-25 schedule

VERMILLION, S.D. — South Dakota head swimming and diving coach Jason Mahowald is pleased to announce the 2024-25 schedule featuring three home meets and trips to Power Five schools Minnesota, Kansas and Iowa State.

"We are very excited for this year's schedule," said Mahowald, now entering his 20th season leading the Coyotes. "We have some very tough opponents early in the season that we think are really going to help us prepare for our championship meets at the end of the season."

The season opens on Oct. 4 with a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska for duals against Nebraska and Minnesota from the Big Ten. 

The women's team entertains Minnesota State in its home opener inside the DakotaDome on Oct. 5.

The schedule in the first semester also includes road trips to Iowa State for the women on Oct. 18 and Kansas on Oct. 25-26. 

The team will embark on its annual training trip after Christmas with this year's taking place in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

South Dakota returns to competition in January with three duals against Summit League foes beginning with a trip to Brookings to face off against South Dakota State on Jan. 18. 

Home league duals against Omaha and St. Thomas are slated for the weekend of Jan. 24-25.

The team will host the two-day Coyote Invite at Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 before finishing out its pre-championship schedule by participating in the Minnesota First Chance Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota on Feb. 7-8.

The four-day Summit League Championships will take place at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation & Wellness Center pool in Iowa City, Iowa on Feb. 19-22. 

The NCAA Zone Diving Championships will also take place in Iowa City on March 9-12.

The NCAA Championships will commence in Federal Way, Washington with the women (March 19-23) and men (March 26-29).
