Yotes picked fourth, Robles named second team in Summit League Preseason Poll

10.07.2025

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's basketball is set to begin year two under head coach Carrie Eighmey this November, and the Coyotes will enter the season picked fourth in the Summit League preseason poll, announced Tuesday morning as a part of the conference's media day in Sioux Falls.

The Coyotes, going 11-20 and 5-11 in conference play last season and earning the seven seed in the Summit League Tournament, were picked fourth in the preseason coaches and media poll. The top three teams from a season ago remain where the finished last season, with South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and Oral Roberts being the only teams ahead of USD this preseason. St. Thomas rounds out the top five.

One of the contributors to South Dakota's rise in the preseason poll is the new faces in Vermillion, including Angelina Robles, a 5-5 guard from San Diego, Calif. who spent the last three seasons playing at Denver. Robles earned second team all-Summit League honors this preseason.

Entering her senior season, Robles has totaled 662 points (7.6 per game), 204 rebounds (2.3), and 146 assists (1.7) over 87 games. Last season, Robles recorded season-long bests in points (293), rebounds (92), three-point percentage (30.1%) and free throw percentage (79.2%).

During Summit League play as a Pioneer last season, Robles averaged 11.4 points per game and hit over 80% of her free throw attempts. Defensively she averaged over one steal per game.

Head coach Carrie Eighmey, along with players Angelina Robles and Patience Williams, are at Summit League Media Day today (Tuesday) starting at 11 a.m. The regular season tips off on Nov. 3 against York (Neb.) at 5 p.m. and the conference opener at Kansas City is scheduled for Jan. 3. Season tickets are still available at GoYotes.com/Tickets.
