Three more school records fall on day two of the Tommie invitational

VERMILLION, S.D. — South Dakota continued to shine on day two of St. Thomas' invitational meet in St. Paul. The Yotes combined for four relay wins and seven individual wins including three record breaking performances by Alex Parkinson and Nick Rounds
 
Lauren Eschmeyer and Gabbie Ahrendt were the first Yotes to make it to the finals for day two when they competed in the 100 fly. In the finals, Ahrendt swam a 54.90 to take first and Eschmeyer came in third. 
 
For the men's team it was Alt and Joaquin Contreras-Fallico who made the 100 fly finals. Alt finished with a time of 47.49 in the finals while taking first place, and Contreras-Fallico placed fourth. Rounds also swam the 100 fly prelims as an exhibition race where he broke the school record with a time of 47.31.
 
Next was the 400 IM where Dawsyn Green snuck into the A finals in fourth place, then swam a personal best 4:30.02 to win the event in the finals. Parkinson placed second in the 400 IM prelims then took three seconds off his time to break the school record in the finals with a time of 3:54.94. 
 
Emily DiProspero and Carson White made the finals for the 200 free where DiProspero took the win in 1:49.88 and White placed third. Matthew Sorbe also made the 200 free finals and finished second with a time of 1:39.25.
 
Taylor Buhr, Madilyn Gehrke, and Quin Mahler-Moreno all made the finals for the 100 breast. Burh placed first with a time of 1:02.75 while Gehrke placed second and Mahler-Moreno placed fourth. Tommy Wonka made the 100 breast finals on the men's side and finished in fourth. 
 
Six athletes made the 100 back finals (Grace Schultz, Anna Balfanz, Henley Hatzung, Rounds, Contreras-Fallico, and Alt). In the women's finals, Hatzung finished second with a time of 55.15 while Schultz came in third and Balfanz in fourth. 
 
Rounds took first in the men's 100 back finals with a school record breaking time of 46.33. Contreras-Fallico came in second and Alt in third. 
 
Kate Woelfel, Mady Schmidt, and Nellie Dalsin all made the women's 3m diving finals where Mady was the highest scorer for USD with 243.50 which gave her a second place finish. 
 
The Coyotes swept both relay events with two wins from both the men's and women's teams. The 200 Medley relay was won by Schultz, Buhr, Ahrendt, and Hatzung in 1:41.72 as well as Contreras-Fallico, Wonka, Alt, and Rounds in 1:27.17.
 
The 800 free relay was won by Ahrendt, DiProspero, White, and Tatum O'Shea in 7:35.56 and by David Mayer, Sorbe, Will Barth, and Parkinson in 6:40.98.

Both the men's and women's team lead in total score after day two.
