Sioux Falls, S.D. — Nick Rounds was named the Summit League's Peak Performer of the week for Swim & Dive after an impressive performance at the Coyote Extravaganza this past weekend. He placed in the top two for all seven events he competed in at the meet.
Rounds started the meet with a team victory as he competed in the 400 medley relay with teammates
Joaquin Contreras-Fallico,
Ethan LaBounty, and
James Schreiber. Rounds had a 47.96 fly split for the relay and the team finished in 3:21.44 which set a pool record for the USD Natatorium.
Later that day, Rounds won the 100 fly with a time of 49.60 and followed that up by winning the 100 back with a time of 48.92. Both of these times were also new pool records.
Day one of the meet ended with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay with teammates Schreiber,
Matthew Sorbe, and
David Mayer. Rounds had the fasted split in the relay at 19.51 and the team finished in 1:23.19.
To open day two, the Yotes relay team of Contreras-Fallico, LaBounty, Rounds, and
Dylan Alt took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.75. Rounds swam the last leg with a split of 19.56.
Rounds then took first in the 50 free with a pool record time of 20.31.
To close out the meet, the relay team of Schreiber, Rounds, Mayer, and
Will Barth took second in the 400 free relay. Rounds had the fasted split for the team at 44.76.
Rounds compiled 96 team points for South Dakota to help push them to a team win in the Coyote Extravaganza.
The Yotes will be back on the pool deck November 20-22 (Thursday-Saturday) when they travel to St. Paul, Minn. to compete in the St. Thomas Invite.
