VERMILLION, S.D. — The Summit League Food Fight, an annual competition between league members founded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), returns to Vermillion this February. Summit League schools compete to see who can raise the most total pounds of food for their local organizations. All USD donations collected this month will be donated to The Vermillion Food Pantry and Charlie's Cupboard. With each $1 donation equaling 5 pounds of food, every donation makes an impact in the community and adds up quickly in the competition.
This year, there are several ways for the Coyote community to get involved:
- Cash Donations can be made at the link to the right all month long
- Nonperishable food items can be dropped off in the SCSC at any home event during the month of February
- The Food Fight Raffle can be entered at any home event during February in the SCSC for a chance to win one of five exclusive prizes
- TWO gear baskets with official USD Athletics gear
- TWO gift card bundles from local businesses valued over $500
- ONE Dakota Days football Game Day Experience with two tickets to the game, plus two pre-game sideline passes for the 2025 Dakota Days game
Entry information:
- ONE entry for $5
- FIVE entries for $10
- Winners will be draw on March 1 during the basketball doubleheader (NOT required to be present to win)
- Eat Pizza Ranch on Feb. 16 after the men's basketball game against SDSU
- 10% of sales plus cash tips from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 16 will be donated to the USD Food Fight
During the men's basketball game against SDSU on February 16th, SAAC will also be hosting a
Pie the Professor fundraiser. Students can donate to vote for the winner, and the staff member with the most donations will take a pie to the face. In addition, if the community is able to help our Summit League donation page reach $750 before halftime on on February 16, Athletic Director
Jon Schemmel will also be pied. The members of USD's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community, and we ask that you help us Feed The Pack this February.
