02.14.2025

VERMILLION, S.D. -- South Dakota women's tennis coach Brett Barnett is pleased to announce the addition of Keta Shavishvili to the roster for the 2025-2026 school year.

Shavishvili is a native of Tibilisi, Georgia and has been a national team member for five years.

"I am very excited that Keta has signed and become a Coyote," Barnett said. "It is a great day to be a Yote as the program got better.

"It was very clear when we first spoke how interested she was and that she is someone who will fit in great with our returners. We are getting a very high level player who has been at the top of the rankings in her home country of Georgia.

Shavishvili has several top finishes in national tournaments in her home country. She as the top ranked player at the U16 level in Georgia.

"She is a very offensive minded player who loves to take balls early and has easy power off of both sides," added Barnett. "Keta is very comfortable moving forward and has had very good results in doubles. I believe she has only scratched the surface of her potential and will be someone who will continue to improve quickly at USD.

"I can't wait to have Keta join our Yote family in the fall and see her make an immediate impact."
