IOWA CITY, Iowa -- South Dakota women's swimming team set a pair of school records during Wednesday's opening night of the Summit League Championships held at the CRWC on the campus of the University of Iowa.
The Coyote women posted a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay, while setting school records in both events.
South Dakota men, meanwhile, finished second in the 200 medley relay and third in the 800 free relay on opening night.
The foursome of
Grace Schultz,
Taylor Buhr,
Sara Mayer and
Emily Kahn opened the evening with a 1:40.42 clocking in the 200 medley relay.
The women's quartet of
Emily DiProspero,
Tatum O'Shea,
Skyler Leverenz and
Carson White were timed in 7:22.34 in the 800 free relay.
DiProspero, a freshman, opened in 1:48.71 and moved up to second all-time in the 200 free in the process.
The men's foursome of
Adam Fisher,
Jack Berdahl,
Jacob Carlson and
Nick Rounds finished in 1:27.04 in the 200 medley relay.
The quartet of
Alex Parkinson,
Matthew Sorbe,
David Mayer and Jacob Schreiber was timed in 6:39.27 in the 800 free relay.
Parkinson, a freshman, clocked a 1:40.03 opening 200 leg and moved into the Coyote Top Ten at No. 7 all time.
The only other final event on Wednesday was the women's one-meter diving event.
Mady Schmidt, a junior, and
Samantha Mersnick, a senior, both advanced to the 'A' final, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively.
