South Dakota heads back to Lincoln for Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Coyotes are headed back to Lincoln for a second time in three weekends as they take on the field at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Friday and Saturday.
 
HOW TO FOLLOW ALONG
Live results of the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational can be found on Delta Timing's website. Competition starts Friday with combined events at 11:30 a.m., followed by field events at 3 p.m. and running events at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, combined events begin at 10 a.m., followed by running events at 11 a.m. and field events at noon.

SUMMIT LEAGUE PEAK PERFORMERS
Three Coyotes earned Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer honors this week: Caleb Rivera (Men's Track), Spencer Buley (Men's Field), and Sara Reifenrath (Women's Track).
 
Rivera set the school record in the mile and placed second in the 1,000-meters last weekend. Buley set a new personal best in the pole vault (17-5 ¾) which places him fifth in the Coyote record books and second in the conference this winter. Reifenrath won the 400-meters, took fifth in the 200-meters, and ran on the 4x400 relay team that tied for seventh in Coyote history.

At the end of the regular season, athletes who rank inside the top 16 nationally qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, held in Virginia Beach, Va. On March 14-15. Here are the Coyotes who rank inside the Top 25 in their respective events this season:

NATIONAL RANKINGS
In week two of the USTFCCCA Rankings, the Coyote men are the top ranked Summit League program in the conference ratings index, and rank No. 12 in the Midwest Region. The Coyotes passed North Dakota State for the top spot this week.
 
The Coyote women rank higher than any Summit League team in the Midwest Rankings, coming in 10th this week. In the conference ratings, South Dakota is up one spot to second.
 
In the event rankings, the South Dakota women sit third in the pole vault behind Virginia Tech and Kansas. The Coyote men rank sixth in the NCAA in the pole vault event.
