VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota head women's basketball coach
Carrie Eighmey has announced the signing of transfer Josie Hill from Chicago State. Hill joins the Coyotes with one year of eligibility remaining.
Â
Hill, a 6-1 center from Rapid City, appeared in 82 games for the Cougars. In her career, Hill averaged 10.1 points and nearly 6.8 rebounds in 29 minutes per game.
Â
"We are excited to bring Josie back home to South Dakota!" Eighmey said. "She has valuable playing experience at the collegiate level. She takes a ton of pride in being a great defender and shot blocker. She's a great athlete that is willing to run the floor hard. She has the ability to score around the paint and can also stretch the floor."
Â
During her junior season at Chicago State, Hill averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field. Hill recorded six double-doubles last season, including a 21-points, 12-rebound performance against Central Connecticut State and a 16-point, 14-rebound showing against Le Moyne.
Â
Hill prepped at Rapid City Central, where she led the Cobblers to a 17-7 record and a state tournament appearance her senior year and was named first team all-state.
Â
Hill was all-defensive team in the Northeast Conference (NEC) this season. She set the Chicago State single season and single game record for blocks during her sophomore campaign.
