VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota head women's basketball coach
Carrie Eighmey has announced the signing of transfer Patience Williams from Georgia State. Williams joins South Dakota as a graduate transfer.
Williams, a 5-11 forward from Minneapolis, Minn., appeared in 59 games, making 10 starts for the Panthers. During the 2024-25 season, Williams averaged 4.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per game.
"Patience plays with a high motor and will be able to help us convert effort plays into points," Eighmey said. "She's a rim-running, rebounding athlete that can defend multiple positions. She adds more depth and versatility to our contingent of forwards. We are looking forward to her becoming a Yote!"
In total, Williams compiled 243 points and 236 rebounds in her time at Georgia State. Prior to joining the Panthers, Williams spent one year with South Florida and was a Junior College all-American at Florida Southwestern State College for one season. She averaged 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game at Florida Southwestern State College, earned Third Team NJCAA All-American honors and was the Region VIII's Southern Conference Player of the Year.
As a prep at Benilde-St. Margaret's High School, Williams averaged 20 points and 18 rebounds as a senior. She scored over 1,150 points in her high school career. Williams was a nursing major at Georgia State.
