SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following the conclusion of the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Vermillion over the weekend, the Summit League has announced all-Summit League honors and Most Outstanding Performers of the Championships Wednesday afternoon.
South Dakota led the conference with a total of 29 athletes receiving all-Summit League honors. The Coyote men tied for the most all-conference athletes (16) with South Dakota State. The Coyote women had the second-most all-Summit athletes with 13.
Outside of the all-Summit League honors,
Marleen Mülla won the Most Outstanding Female Performer of the Championship honor, as voted by the conference's participating head coaches. Mülla broke the Summit League Championship record in the pole vault, clearing 15-0 (4.57m).
That personal best by Mülla is second in school history during the outdoor season, is an Estonian National Record, and ranks No. 4 in the NCAA this season. Mülla beat the previous Summit League Championship record of 14-3 ½ (4.36m), set by teammate
Gen Hirata at the 2023 Championships.
South Dakota has the only two four-event all-Summit League honorees this season in
Averi Schmeichel and
Sara Reifenrath. Schmeichel's four all-conference honors came in the 100-meter hurdles (champion), 400-meter hurdles (champion), 4x400-relay (champion), and 4x100-relay (third). Reifenrath picked up her four honors in the 200-meters (champion), 400-meters (champion), 4x400-relay (champion), and 4x100-relay (third).
To earn all-Summit League honors, a student-athlete must place in the top three in an event category at the Summit League Championships. The full list of Coyote honorees is below.
