09.12.2025

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – South Dakota Triathlon is gearing up for its second competition of the fall Sunday morning, competing at the Desert's Edge Collegiate Cup in Grand Junction, Colorado.

The race is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. local time, 8:30 a.m. central at the Highline Lake State Park near Loma, Colorado.

THE YOTES
South Dakota is looking to build on a strong opening performance at the Southern Hills Collegiate Cup a couple weeks ago. Chelsea Webber placed fourth individually with a time of 31:25 in the super sprint, pacing a fourth-place finish by the Yotes. USD finished behind three of the top four teams in the CTCA Preseason Poll at their last race.

Alexa Magallon joined Webber inside the top 10 at the Southern Hills Collegiate Cup, placing 10th in 31:49.

RACE DETAILS
Sunday's race is a collegiate sprint, consisting of a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5k run to the finish.

Teams competing in Sunday's race look similar to the teams the Yotes saw at the Southern Hills Collegiate Cup, as Co-No. 1's Arizona and Arizona State, No. 4 TCU, and No. 5 Denver are all in attendance. San Francisco and USD round out the Division I schools in attendance. Host school, Division II Colorado Mesa, and the host school from the Southern Hills race, Division II Black Hills State, will also compete.

Additional race information can be found on the official race website.
