Mülla qualifies for World Championships following win at Estonian National Championships

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota pole vaulter Marleen Mülla has one more competition prior to her senior season in Vermillion, as she earned the chance to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan this month.
 
Mülla spent her summer back home in Estonia, competing around Europe, including winning her sixth Estonian National Championship last month, clearing 14-5 ¼ (4.40m). Her personal and season best of 15-0 (4.57m) was set at the Summit League Outdoor Championships this spring in Vermillion.
 
Mülla is a five-time all-American in the pole vault at USD and is the indoor school record holder (14-11). Mülla has claimed two Summit League titles in the event and is the Estonian National Record Holder at 15-0. Outside of her five all-American honors, Mülla has totaled six Estonian national titles in the event.
 
The opening round of the women's pole vault competition is scheduled for 9:05 a.m. local (Tokyo, Japan) time Monday, Sept. 15, or 7 p.m. central time Sunday evening. The final for the women's pole vault is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. Wednesday in Japan, or 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17.
